Letter from the CEO/Director – Puspa Gajmer
Dear Friends, Families, and Supporters,
Hello and Namaste!
It is with deep gratitude and great pride that I welcome you to the Himalayan American Language and Cultural Academy (HALCA). What began as a dream rooted in the refugee camps of Nepal has become a vibrant reality here in Akron—a place where culture lives, creativity thrives, and community is cherished.
As someone who has walked the journey of resettlement, I understand the challenges immigrants and refugees face in holding onto their identity while building a new life. HALCA was founded to provide our youth and families with the opportunity to learn, grow, and express themselves through the beauty of our language, music, and traditions.
At HALCA, we believe that cultural preservation and education are powerful tools for empowerment. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where all voices are heard and every student is encouraged to shine. Through collaboration, dedication, and love for our heritage, we have created something truly meaningful.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you are a student, a parent, a supporter, or a partner, your presence enriches our community. Together, we will continue to honor the past, uplift the present, and inspire the future.
With sincere gratitude,
Puspa Gajmer
